Nenya The Geek is Born!

Finally, I resurrected my tech blog. I was going to keep the “DummyGeekGurl” moniker, but I knew I had to change the name. I didn’t want to be known as the girl dummy geek who likes tech and gadgets but can’t do code, anymore.

I had claimed for myself the name “nenyalorien” when I got fascinated with The Lord of the Rings. I loved the way Tolkien near-seamlessly wove the story, and I love the parallels to the Christian life. If you want to learn about the origin and my story about the “nenyalorien” nick, click any of the links. But as for “NenyaTheGeek...”

I had wanted to make a nick that would have had a geeky side to it, and yet would have a deeper meaning, and none of the “DummyGeekGurl” ditz-geek connotation. PLUS, “dummy” seemed to make me feel dumb. So though I had initially created it to highlight the fact that I’m a geek, I am a gurl, but I don’t do code (program software), I realized that I didn’t want a synonym for “idiot” to be attached to my identity. So when I decided to leave the company where DummyGeekGurl was born, I had to “reinvent” myself. Thus, NenyaTheGeek was born.

So named, because I wanted it to sound geeky, as I said. Nenya, of the Elven Lore as told by Tolkien. “Geek,” to emphasize the obvious, and... Voila! NenyaTheGeek! Doesn’t it sound sooo... Viking-ish?

So re-welcome me to cyberspace? :D

P.S.

What to expect from this blog? Lorie's blabberings on tech, and its intersection with life! :p
